CONYERS, Ga. – The free Electronics Recycling and Paper Shredding event that Keep Conyers-Rockdale Beautiful (KCRB) sponsored was a huge success with the help of numerous volunteers and Atlanta Recycling Solutions and A Cut Above, who served as the event vendors.
The annual event on Sept. 12 drew nearly 400 cars through the line to clear out old electronics and shred sensitive documents on site within the four-hour span of the event.
According to Atlanta Recycling Solutions, volunteers collected nearly 12,000 pounds of metal, plastic, glass, computer housing and peripheral equipment.
More specific results of electronics collected during the event include:
- 114 computers
- 50 laptops
- 37 CRT monitors
- 32 LCD monitors
- 25 TVs
A Cut Above, who served as the paper shredding vendor, shredded 8 tons of paper onsite for citizens who participated in the event.
KCRB intends to host the next Electronics Recycling and Paper Shredding event in September 2016. The County will promote the 2016 event at least one month in advance on its website, in local newspapers and magazines, via the County’s social media channels and email blasts, and on Rockdale County Comcast Cable Channel 23, among other promotional avenues.
