Local musician Dustin Bragg has been making music since he was 8 years old. Born and raised in Covington, Dustin is the youngest son of Tiger and Kathy Bragg (Copy Central, Bragg Repair Service and Tiger Bragg Band) and the grandson of Dotti and Bob Bala of Conyers. He graduated from Covington Academy in December 2012 and has two older brothers, Dalton and Dillon. This local singer/songwriter just completed two new singles at Johnson Brothers Recording Studio in Covington. Dustin said, “I think John is as excited about the songs as we are, they really turned out AWESOME!”
Now nineteen he plays all over the southeast, in Nashville and locally. He has spent a lot of time playing charity benefits in years past and this year he is participating in Nashville’s “Christmas 4 Kids” program.
Dustin has been working with some extremely knowledgeable folks in Nashville since 2011. Preshias Harris, his music consultant, has introduced him to Bernie Nelson, co-writer on “One Way Ticket Home” and Eddie Wilson, co-writer on “Ripped a Page Out of My Bible.” Both songs will be available on iTunes November 2014. Dustin is working on a CD that is scheduled for release in the Spring of 2015. Dustin will make his regular trip to Nashville in a couple of weeks to work with his co-writers on songs for his cd. He will also be performing at The Listening Room Cafe for the next “A Preshias Night In Music.”
He has recently started teaching guitar and really enjoys helping others develop their talents. “I have been amazed at how well Dustin works with kids. I never knew he had so much patience; he is good with adults too. I was just blown away at how well he communicates with all of them,” said his mother.
Few of Dustin’s friends know he did some commercials for McDonalds and HGTV, with the renown agents Joy and Jayme Pervis for many years until his music took his life in a different direction. He does have a “real” southern accent so he missed out some roles due to the fact that “Hollywood” didn’t understand what a “real” southern accent sounded like! Maybe now that Covington is known as “Hollywood South” that will change.
Aside from his music, there isn’t anything he likes better than fishing and hunting making time for it year round.
