Local filmmaker Jack Moon recently held a private screening for the cast and crew of his feature length film, “Social Circle”. Moon doesn’t have any plans to have a public screening for the film as he is submitting the film to festivals. He stated, “Festivals like to be the ones that publically premiere your film.”
At the private event, a roar of continuous laughter erupted throughout the entire screening at the Company Deli/Speakeasy Bar in Porterdale, Georgia. At the conclusion of the film, the enthusiastic audience gave it a standing ovation.
The film centers on a small town Georgia investigator probing into a series of local crimes including locating a missing woman. Kit Gosling (Amber McCullough) is single, lonely, and works for the Social Circle Police Department. It’s a small town, comedy, crime story.
Troy Gross, a former director with Cartoon Network, was in attendance. He served as a consultant to Moon. Gross hadn’t seen the completed film until the screening. With a big smile, he looked across the room and gave Moon a huge thumbs up signal as the end credits rolled.
Moon began the evening thanking the actors, crew members, and all who helped in the making of the film. He recanted stories about how he recruited certain actors for specific roles.
A few of the actors spoke, stating they were attracted to Moon’s film because of the quality of the script he wrote. They praised his vision and directing style. The script was definitely filled with great dialogue, quirky characters, and funny jokes.
Moon recently submitted “Social Circle” to the Austin Film Festival in Texas. He plans to enter other festivals with hopes of being picked for distribution. He is currently writing another film that he will direct at the beginning of next year.
