July 1, 2015 marked an extraordinary time for Conyers Flower Shop. If you had told Tiny Sherrill, the original owner and founder, that one day her Flower Shop and legacy would celebrate 36 years as a family owned and operated business, most likely that thought would have been in question. But now, 36 years later, the business is still family owned and operated while carrying on the morals; values, and a legacy started July 1, 1979.
Some who read this article will remember Tiny and her husband Pete Sherrill. Tiny started working in a flower shop off Wesley Chapel Road back in the early 1970’s where growing in knowledge and skills as a designer would play a major role in her decision to open her own shop. (I would suggest that anyone wanting to start a business do the same as she did.)
Tiny Sherrill has always been a Godly woman. She also was a member in Rotary, Kiwanis, the Conyers-Rockdale Chamber, and she and the Good Lord only knows what else. She has always been a people-oriented person with a love for serving those around her. She often touches and leaves a wonderful and lasting impression that crossed her path in life.
Those of us at Conyers Flower Shop strive to carry on the same morals and values that Tiny started so many years ago. Were we to deviate or change, Tiny/Mama, still carries a big stick and would not hesitate to use it.
Since July 2000 when Allyson and Alan Sherrill acquired the business, her days are filled with traveling to and from constantly and without any worries. As this is written, she is in Seattle, Washington and will be heading up into Vancouver, Canada with her husband L. O. to see the sights there. Spending our inheritance as fast as she can, but then, she has earned it.
Those of us at Conyers Flower Shop (Alan, Allyson, Jennifer, Alexis, Eddie and all the others) would like to thank Tiny/Mama/Granny and the God above for having enough faith in us to continue her dream and legacy of a small business owner for so many years. She often brags on us and tells us how proud she is of what we have done and continue to do. But in reality, she was and continues to be the driving force. She has set the standards in what we do.
Thank You, Lord. Thank You, Mama/Granny/Tiny and the Conyers Rockdale Community for allowing us at Conyers Flower Shop to serve your floral needs, as we are now “Generating Smiles for 36 Years.”
