Spivey Hall Organist-in-Residence Scheduled for Recital at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church
Alan Morrison, Spivey Hall’s organist-in-residence, has joined the roster of the 2016 Atlanta Summer Organ Festival with a recital scheduled for Wednesday, July 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church.
Morrison was appointed as Spivey’s organist-in-residence in 2015, and will hold the McGehee Family Organist Residency there through the 2020-2021 season. He took part in the Season 26 Announcement Celebration in March, where he performed for Spivey Hall donors and invited guests, and joined Executive and Artistic Director Sam Dixon to preview Season 26’s special 25th Anniversary Celebration of Spivey’s Albert Schweitzer Memorial Organ. Recently, Morrison also had the honor of performing the opening recital for the 100th Anniversary of the Atlanta Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
Celebrating its 22nd season, the Atlanta Summer Organ Festival, sponsored by the Atlanta Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, is a celebration of the ecumenical spirit of music across several Atlanta area churches, each with its own distinguished organ. Patrons have the opportunity to hear world renowned performers play some the finest instruments in the Southeast. All concerts are performed on Wednesdays, with a suggested donation of $15.
