The Yankee Clippers Swim Team (YCST) is a registered USA Swim Team of Connecticut Swimming, that allows swimmers from the Watertown Recreation Swim Team to participate in USS competitions. Any swimmer registered and practicing with the current Watertown Recreation Swim Program is eligible to register and compete in USS swimming as a YCST member.

United States Swimming (USS) is the national organization responsible for developing an age group program with fair and open competition for its registered swimmers. It is designed to encourage maximum participation, provide an educational experience, enhance physical and mental conditioning, and develop a rich base of swimming talent. It also is the governing body for amateur swimming in the U.S.
USS swim meets vary from open competitions for swimmers from specific geographical areas to regional and national meets with qualifying times. Although scores are kept at some meets, club team goals are de-emphasized in favor of personal achievement. There are enough USS scheduled meets that swimmers can compete in USS meets, in addition to their dual meet team schedule.
There are additional fees required for USS participation. Registration with USS and entry fees for each event swimmers enter, etc., are coordinated through the USS Chairperson.
Swimmers who participate in USS meets will compete against more swimmers of equal abilities, which challenges them at their own ability level. Both novice and elite swimmers are challenged to perform their best.
Highly self-motivated swimmers of all ages should consider USS swimming.
