"Got some
good stuff here, beautiful girls, want some?" he
asked.
"Sure, let’s see what you got," Elsbeth
said. She loved speed, took anything she
could get her hands on. Sue didn’t like it much, but
it was so boring at the moment
she thought maybe she’d pop a few. The redheaded guy
handed over a zip-lock
baggie full of red hearts.
"No black beauties yet, huh," Elsbeth said,
shaking the bag to get a count.
"Nah, not today, nobody’s got beauties now.
Too expensive. These are better anyway,"
the redhead said. "I’m Wiz, call me Wiz."
He smiled, showing the usual blackening teeth carnies
tended to have after being
on the road for years, no insurance, no time to find a
dentist or a doctor, no money
to pay.
"So you want these or not? I gotta get back to
work."
Sue handed over a $20 and the bag was hers. Elsbeth
scooped out four red pills
and popped them in her mouth. Sue followed her example,
but only took three.
