Quality of Parish Life
The Quality of Parish Life Committee has been established at Saint Saviour’s
Church to increase opportunities for fellowship among parishioners. It incorporates
the traditional “in-reach” activities of helping those in need
of assistance due to special circumstances (providing meals, visits, phone
calls, rides, etc.) with more socially focused events. The aim is to foster
and strengthen bonds among members of our congregation and to welcome newcomers.
These gatherings include between-service brunches, after-service coffee hours,
parish picnics, family cookouts, progressive dinners, sports outings, and
the like.
Our activities are open to anyone and everyone in the congregation who would like to participate – both to help organize and to enjoy. If you have ideas about possible events or an interest in helping plan an event, please speak with Barbara Carter Kohn (637-1291). With God’s grace, our parish will remain a welcoming, caring, and connected community sharing His spirit of love.

Prayer shawl ministry
At the last Women of Saint
Saviour’s meeting, there seemed to be interest in beginning a prayer
shawl ministry. The official website for prayer shawl ministry reads, "In
1998, Janet Bristow and Victoria Galo, two graduates of the 1007 Women's Leadership
Institute at The Hartford Seminary in Hartford, Connecticut, gave birth to
a ministry . . . . Care and love of knitting have been combined into a prayerful
ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace . . . [T]he
knitter begins each shawl with prayers and blessings for the recipient. Intentions
are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. When the shawl is completed,
it is offered a final ritual before being sent along its way." Shawls
have been given to those undergoing medical procedures; as a comfort after
a loss; during bereavement; to new mothers; to those suffering illness; and
as a sign of community.
If you are interested in learning more and participating, please put your
name on the sign up sheet on the church bulletin board. I will be in touch
with people about where and when we might meet. Please join us. The knitting
is easy and meditative!
