Altar Guild and Flower Committee

Altar Guild and Flower Committee

The Altar Guild works to enhance worship by ensuring the beauty of the altar and its surroundings. Members of the Altar Guild remain busy throughout the year. For each Sunday celebration of the Eucharist, members share the responsibilities of preparing the altar and vessels and clearing up after the service. Altar Guild members also launder linens used on the altar and, from time to time, replace candles, polish silver and brass, launder robes worn by acolytes, and clean and tidy the pew racks. There are occasional special services – baptisms, weddings, funerals, special mid-week feast days – for which Altar Guild members also provide support.

The Flower Committee is part of the Altar Guild. Members of the Flower Committee arrange weekly flowers or plants for the altar and, occasionally, for the chapel. During the Christmas and Easter seasons, the Flower Committee works diligently to create a festive backdrop for our celebrations.

New Altar Guild members are needed to help prepare the sanctuary for the eucharist on Sundays and on a few other holy days during the year. Please consider this ministry, and contact Joan Towse (323-5460)
