MEANDROUS THOUGHTS

THOUGHTS ON GHOSTS

What is a "ghost"? Well folks, that's the million-dollar question. There are countless theories and unfortunately very little scientific research on the topic. However as we move closer to the new millenium it seems that more people are taking an interest in the possibilities of life after death. Many have made up their minds without any conclusive evidence at all that ghosts either do or do not exist. They hold steadfast to their personal opinions regardless of which side of the fence they choose to be on. I personally tend to fall somewhere in the middle and am not steadfast to my position. I keep an open mind and am hopeful that one day humanity will have the answer to the age old question. Do ghosts exist?

The term ghost is at times used as a catch all term that can cover many unexplained phenomena. There are those who feel the need to name each individual type of phenomena separately such as photographed anomalies shaped like spirals as being "vortexes" or circular forms as being "globules". This does serve a useful purpose for Ghost Hunters and parapsychologists alike although I have found that there are many discrepancies in the use of such names. What some call globules, others call spheres what some call spheres others call portals. This tends to create confusion.

I have seen thousands of photographs with ghostly images, some of which seem to defy the laws of physics. Many photos have been proven to be things less than ghostly such as camera straps and double exposures but it is the photos that have been scrutinized by professional photographers and film developers that raise the most questions. One picture in particular that clearly points to being an authentic example of ghostly phenomena was one taken by our groups photographer Robin. This photo was taken at night at Union Cemetery in Easton CT, a well known "haunted site". She captured many ghost photos that night but this one had surpassed all the rest. Not only was it a perfect example of ghostly phenomena but this "globule" clearly showed movement and for the first time we could rule out any normal explanation.

Here was a photograph of a misty circular form semi transparent with a tail extruding from the bottom portion.

Imagine the vapor trail of a jet plane trailing behind it as flies upwards. This is in effect the very same thing that was captured on film that night. The form had apparently been traveling upward at the time the frame was shot leaving behind it a trail of substance of which the chemical components are a mystery. At no time are these "globs" seen with the naked eye and they have been captured on film by many different cameras and there seems to be no special film requirements either. Skeptics have claimed these forms to be nothing more than rain drops. If this were the case the vapor trial on our glob would of course be coming off the top not the bottom. We all know rain falls down not up. Not to mention the fact that this photo was NOT taken during foul weather of any kind. Whether this photo is proof of life after death or not the fact remains that there is strange phenomena happening in graveyards around the world. Is it gaseous vapors from decomposing bodies? I think we can rule that out in the 18th century graveyards that many of these ghost like forms are captured in. I patiently await the day that the scientific community takes this phenomenon seriously and realizes the possibilities that these ghostly entities could unlock some of the mysteries of the paradoxical world view of quantum mechanics.
