Shows I Don't Miss |
WARNING: Fans of Stone-Stanley shows should get off this page . There are two shows on this list. If you decide to continue, I am not responsible for any damage you may do to your personal belongings.
This is your way out. And your last chance.
Well, if you got this far, you're either interested in the list or are insane. So for those brave souls, let the trash begin.
Latest revision 7/1/98.
| 6 | Camouflage (Syn), 1980 |
| Boy, talk about your bombs. Why Chuck Barris decided to produce this horrendous show is beyond me. Aired 6/24/98 as Game Show Network's Faux Pause Pick, it should've been the subject of the show. The puzzles were way too hard to solve at first glance, and the bonus round was even more unfair ("rough," as my brother called it)--contestants had to find the hidden object WITH NO HELP! Granted, the grand prize was a Cadillac (or some other new car), but realistically, how many people actually won it? (I open this up to those on a.t.g-s and GS-L for assistance.) | |
| 5 | Quicksilver/Free 4 All (USA), 1994 |
| After putting out a very enjoyable Fun House (OK, who watched only for Jackie and Sammi? Hands, please! That's what I thought!) and a horrendous Shop Till You Drop with stiff-as-a-board Pat Finn (more on him later), Stone-Stanley unleashed the worst pair of shows ever. I put them together here because you can't bash them separately. Bad concept, bad hosts, bad music, just plain bad! These shows effectively ended the game block on USA, and it's really too bad that a pair of really bad apples spoiled the bunch. | |
| 4 | The Diamond Head Game (Syn.), 1975 |
| It's a good thing that the first game show broadcast from Hawaii was the last. Bob Eubanks should be embarrased for hosting this tripe. The "Climb up Diamond Head" was just awful--who actually remembered all the words that were read off the list? The endgame was terrible, too--reminds me of those stupid promotions that the lottery would hold in order to promote one of its new instant games in attempt to give away "big money"--and then have the winner walk away with about $200. Not worth the videotape. | |

Any Fam Interactive Game (Shuffle, Boggle, Jumble, Trivial Pursuit), 1993-94 |
| Was Family Channel so hard-up for original game programming? Trivial Pursuit-The Classic Game was a great idea, but the interactive Playbreaks had to go. And adding Boggle, Jumble, and Shuffle to the interactive lineup made matters so bad that Fam decided to end it all and drop the game block entirely. Hey, even Wink Martindale, who produced and hosted each of these trash shows, makes mistakes now and then. | |
| 2 | Celebrity Charades (Syn.), 1979 |
Columbia/Screen Gems' attempt to revive the old 1950s game show Pantomime Quiz failed miserably. Jay Johnson and Squeaky were terrible as hosts, despite the show having some decent A-list celebs for the time. It's a good thing that this poor excuse for a show only lasted nine months--but, in hindsight, should've lasted a lot less than that. |

| 1 | The Joker's Wild/Tic Tac Dough (Syn.), 1990 |
Where to start...I can't even describe these two pieces of shit without cursing. (Geez, I did it already.) Pat Finn and Patrick Wayne may well be Tweedledumb and Tweedledumber. Finn was about as impersonal as any host could possibly be. And Wayne was totally obnoxious. These two shows would have been a lot better if: a) Richard Kline had kept his hands off TJW '90, b) Dan Enright wasn't on something when he was EP of TTD '90, and c) better hosts were in charge. Jack Barry probably rolled in his grave when these shows debuted. |
