Kent Family History For those researching the Kent line. Daniel Kent of Ft. Madison Iowa was brother to Meshack or Meshae Kent in (Van Buren, Van Buren Iowa 1850 census). I don't know why they put Meshae. His name recorded in Plain City Ohio was Meshack. Daniel and Meshack were one of 13 children, the first 3 being born in VA and Hiram being born in 1807 in Franklin Co. Ohio. They moved from Franklin co. to Montgomery co. to Greene co. to , Madison co. then to Union co. Ohio. Thier parents were Silas Kent b. June 9, 1782 in NJ to James Kent from Hampshire co. VA. and Olive West Kent said to be born in Conn. After Silas died on August 21, 1833. Some of the family started moving west, including Olive West. Hiram and Elijah Kent brothers to the Daniel and Meshack, stayed in Ohio. Rachel Kent stayed in Ohio, married twice, 1st to Thomas Hollycross, 2nd to Kindle Huffman. Wesley, son of Silas after loosing a family in Ohio, moved to Fulton co., Illinois.It is said that Olive West Kent moved to Appanoose co. Iowa. I have not found records of that yet. I believe Silas Daniel, son of Silas and Olive moved to Kansas. John J. Kent son of Silas and Olive moved to Kansas. The children
