One More Quilt: A Story of Life
Chapter Eight (cont): More Quilts Late 1998

For the Love of Sailing quilt was made for my husband, Bill, for his 45th Birthday. Jessica, Jeffrey, Andrea and Katie were fantastic about coming up with reasons for Bill to take each one of them out of the house so I could work on this quilt. I really wanted it to be a complete surprise with Bill not even seeing any of the fabrics. The children submitted their creative contributions as their gift to him. I found out about unique way to make a quilt. It's called a Quillow. It is a quilt that goes into a pocket to form a pillow. The quilt is measured to be 44 inches by 72 inches and it gets folded into an eighteen inch square pillow. This was my gift to Jan Sachs for Christmas 1998.

Just had to go to another quilt class at Calico Alley in Guilford, Connecticut! This one was held on an all-day Sunday quilt marathon. I really love the colors in the 4-Patch/9-Patch quilt and the way it is put together. I no sooner finished this quilt that Katie stacked in on her bed right along with the rest of her quilts.

This Christmas table runner was made from pieces of fabric from all of the classes I had taken at Calico Alley. I donated the table runner to the Shoreline Quilters' Guild Open Bid Auction for Christmas, and my friend, Nancy Adams, won the bid!
