Foreign Screams- The Cinema of World Horror

"Thanks for a great site!"

-Tim Paxton

This site is dedicated to the cinema of world horror. Primary focus is granted to the cinematic output of countries outside the US, but exceptions do exist on the basis of older American entries. The site is loosely divided into four sections: in-depth analysis (reviews and essays-including articles previously featured at Midnight Video), short capsule synopses (featuring many exclusive reviews of rare and largely unseen horror), interviews, and a set of approved links.
So what do the films covered look like? What do they have in common? Why are they so special and worthy of such attention? While the films in question hail from many regions (Asia, Europe, US) and countries (Thailand, Indonesia, Sweden, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Cambodia, Japan, Columbia, Germany, America, France, Hong Kong, Korea, Canada and the Netherlands), they do share common strands: the fear of alienation, mankind’s eternal struggle with terror, psychological manifestations, and yes, the perrenial favorite: blood and gore. Moreover, foreign horror offers true fans of the genre the robust, innovative and invigorating thrill unique to the genre that has been so sorely lacking in contemporary mainstream US fare.
