24" Sport Fisherman "Raymar II"

(Old Photos of Current updated Boat - New Photos coming later !)
This Boat is the oldest one. It was built from a balsa kit and
finished with Dope Model Airplane finishes. It was originally Red
& White with a direct drive Dumas Pittman motor and 6V
wiring. Due to my lack of Experience, the Hull had a sight
"twist" when viewed from the rear. The Dope finish was
not durable enough for a R/C boat that goes in the water.
This boat was taken apart, saving the fittings, and the
original bulkheads. (I still have the bulkheads). As a guide,
these parts were used to reconstruct a new one (not
"twisted" of course !) Polyester fiberglass resin and
cloth was used to seal & reinforce the balsa skinned hull. I
found it took too long to get it all smooth. The new boat runs
faster and has working running lights. An 05 car motor connected
to 2 R/C car pinion gears drive a 3 bladed prop. (one gear is
plastic, to cut down noise)
I love the appearance of a boat from the 1950's to 1960's, and spent more time building than running this one.
