With a good gravel base, we can now build the forms for the concrete.
This is the support for the waterfall, as well as an additional shelf for plants.
The top tier will be just under water, and where the bottom rock of the waterfall will rest.
Nice rental cement mixer.  Filling the mixer 1/2 full, it took about 20 pours per day for 2 days to create the shelves and footings.
"Floating" the cement smooth after a pour.
Setting up the form for the left shelf pour.
Here, the left shelf is poured in concrete, and you can see the bed of  gravel  which is the base for the stepping stones.  As this area was mostly rock, and well supported, it didn't need any concrete.
And then it rained.  And rained.  And rained.  Well, we needed it - it had been quite a drought, but the only ones happy were the fish!
All of the concrete in place.  Now, all the edges have to be rounded, and sand used to make everything smooth.
Smoothing all the rough area with sand, so that there are no sharp edges which would eventually poke through the liner.
Next, the support for the patio had to be created from concrete blocks.  We wanted the patio to overhang the water about 2 inches, so it looked like the pond went under the patio!
The last piece of shaping work was to complete the connector between the old and new ponds.  this was left for last as we needed to keep the water in the old pond supported.
We used concrete to smooth the edges of the blocks supporting the patio, and to shape the bottom of the connector.
OK!  We're ready for the liner!  About 3 weeks in, with some time off for monsoon rain!  At least we know the drainage is excellent!
"Can't wait for 'em to fill it!"
