100 LED array in two 50 LED strings now finished. Since each LED has a 3V drop and 50 LEDs (per string) are used, the total drop (per string) is 150 volts. Using a 250VDC supply the LED strings were test-lit at 30ma using the 3 pink 10K resistors parallel to make 3333ohms, thus 4.5 watts DC input to LEDs. Putting both strings together (parallel) they both did light up but one was a wee bit dimmer (sharing 15ma to each string). So each string will be independently driven by ½ 6BX7 or 6BL7 set for 15ma average. During test, the array made a vivid spot on a wall 10ft. away and caused many white objects to glow as if electrophosicated by atomic zombies. This will be a 9 watt peak input array (150V 60ma peak). Using plain audio – or RF modulated by audio – which in turn modulates the DC going to LEDs will be how this array will be used to send to the UV photo tube (or photomultiplier) described elsewhere (and in detail later).
