The release of N1MM v 9.6.1 contained a significant rewrite to parts of the Digital side of the N1MM Logger. In this document I will try to explain the changes made..
The first major change was made to make each Digital Interface operate independently from each other. In previous versions in order to get the second Digital Interface to open you first had to open the first one and select the menu option to open the second one. From this point forward each Digital Interface gets opened by selecting Digital Interface from the Dropdown Window menu on the Entry Windows. This allows each window to be opened without the other one present. You can work CW on VFO A and RTTY or PSK on VFO B in a mixed mode contest.
Note: In order for the above scenario to be done you need:
Also changed in accordance with the above change is if the digital window was open when you close the logger down each digital window will be re-opened on startup the next time.
The next major change is now the Digital Windows support up to 4 additional RX windows. They can be in any combination of numbers (1 for DI1 and 3 for DI2, 2 for each DI, 4 for DI2, ect.) Each RX window can use either MMTTY or a TNC and is setup the first time you use the window.
Note: If you plan on using MMTTY as the engine for each RX window then create 4 separate directories and copy your original MMTTY setup into each one you created. This will allow you more freedom to setup each window with different profiles and settings and have that window open the same each time.
Note: If using a TNC DO NOT setup the TNC in the normal N1MM hardware tab. All the port settings are done in the RX window setup. Included in the setup window is a place to enter an initialization string needed for the configured TNC. This string will be sent to the TNC upon the window opening. The initialization string uses the same format as other TNC setups within the logger and is available in the help file. DXP-38 Users should read the help file for how to configure the DXP for use with N1MM Logger. If the DXP-38 Tuning indicator is turned on one is displayed on the RX window.
If you are upgrading to v9.6.2+ from an earlier version and you have configured Digital ports
(The port has a checkmark in the digital Box). Then you need to click Setup for
each port you have marked as digital and set the Digital Interface that port is
going to be used for. The setting is in a box called “Dig Wnd Nr”. If this
setting is not configured correctly you will be displayed a message box
explaining how to correct the problem.
Please verify that your radio model selects the new mapped digital
modes shown on the chart below. Also, when the mode is selected with the radio
buttons, it should be displayed in the Entry window title.

Only the valid digital radio modes shown in the chart for your radio
will appear in the Configurer, Mode tab RTTY/PSK dropdowns. Each of the
selections should set the proper radio mode and display it when RTTY or PSK is
entered into the Entry window callsign box. Be sure to have a RTTY/PSK contest
loaded. The DX contest is a good choice for testing.
Notice that "No Change" is a drop-down menu item and that
you can make selections by radio (SO2R) and VFO (SO2V). For most SO2V users,
you will want to set VFOA and VFOB to the same RTTY and PSK digital program
mode.
There may also be radio limitations that force the user to select the
same mode on VFOA and VFOB.
