Directions to Bungay Elementary School, Seymour, CT

FROM THE EAST VIA I-84:

Take I-84 west to Waterbury.

Take Route 8 (Exit 19 off of I-84) south from Waterbury.

Take Exit 19 off of Route 8 (yes, 19 is the correct number for the exits off of both I-84 and Route 8).

Turn left at the end of the exit ramp.

At the next street (Bungay Road) turn right (this is immediately before a small shopping center). If you reach a traffic light, you’ve gone too far.

Follow Bungay Road until you reach the second stop sign (about 1.8 miles)

At that stop sign turn right (you are still on Bungay Road).

Bungay Elementary School is about half a mile farther on the right-hand side.

From I-95 (North OR SOUTH):

(Note: A shorter but less straightforward route is to take Route 34 from New Haven (Exit 47 off of I-95) to Route 8. It’s basically a matter of watching the signs and staying on 34, which makes various twists and turns for about 8–10 miles [that’s a guess] after you get off of I-95 before you get to Route 8. Detailed directions for this route are available on request.)

Take I-95 south to Bridgeport.

Take Exit 27A off of I-95 for Route 8 north.

Take Exit 19 (Wakelee Avenue) off of Route 8.

Turn left at the end of the exit ramp.

Follow the road to the left as it crosses back over the highway.

At the traffic light, go straight (i.e., bear right), curving around past the Ames shopping center.

Immediately after the shopping center, turn left onto Bungay Road.

Follow Bungay Road until you reach the second stop sign (about 1.8 miles)

At that stop sign turn right (you are still on Bungay Road).

Bungay Elementary School is about half a mile farther on the right-hand side.

FROM THE SOUTH via the merritt parkway:

Take the Merritt Parkway (Route 15) to Exit 52.

Take Exit 52 off of the Merritt for Route 8 north.

Take Exit 19 (Wakelee Avenue) off of Route 8.

Turn left at the end of the exit ramp.

Follow the road to the left as it crosses back over the highway.

At the traffic light, go straight (essentially bearing right), curving around past a shopping center.

Immediately after the shopping center, turn left onto Bungay Road.

Follow Bungay Road until you reach the second stop sign (about 1.8 miles)

At that stop sign turn right (you are still on Bungay Road).

Bungay Elementary School is about half a mile farther on the right-hand side.

from the WEST via I-84:

After passing through Danbury on I-84, take Exit 11 (for Route 34).

Follow signs from the exit ramp to Route 34 (going east).

After about 6 miles on Route 34, you will cross over a dam.

Turn right at the end of the dam to continue on Route 34.

About 2.5 miles later, you will come to Route 188.

Turn left onto Route 188.

Go about 1.2 miles to Route 334 (at a rotary).

Turn right onto Route 334.

Go about 0.7 mile and turn left onto Bottsford Road.

Follow Bottsford about 1.6 miles, through 3 stop signs (after the third stop sign you will be on Bungay Road, which feeds in from the right at that point).

Bungay Elemenatry School is about half a mile farther on the right-hand side.

OR . . . Here’s a longer but more straightforward route:

Take I-84 east to Waterbury.

Take Route 8 south (Exit 19 or 20 -- not sure which -- off of I-84) from Waterbury.

Take Exit 19 off of Route 8.

Turn left at the end of the exit ramp.

At the next street (Bungay Road) turn right (this is immediately before a small shopping center). If you reach a traffic light, you’ve gone too far.
