The footbridge rests on bridge abutments from the original 1873 railroad
bridge which was about 25 feet higher. (4/2002)

The rail trail (and once the railroad) share this passage beneath Connecticut Route 44 in Pomfret with the Abington Brook. There are some drainage problems, as you can plainly see. This is the view looking from the north side of the highway. (4/2002)

In Hampton, near the intersections of Parker Road and South Brook Street, this old wooden bridge crosses over the trail. The bridge is no longer in use for traffic. (5/2002)
