Does it seem like everyone is going somewhere these days? They could be taking a trip to the beach or mountains. No matter what it is, summer is that wonderful time of the year when people vacation and enjoy time with friends and family. Everyone, even those with the most responsibility, are able to find the time to get away. After all, why are you working? Certainly you can get away and do some of the things you love to do with the people you care most about?
It is the small business owner that has the hardest time scheduling that vacation and stopping at the end of the day. This is especially so with the smallest business owner – you know the one that appears always tired and busy, busy, busy. If you are one of these business owners, or even a professional or manager of a small business, that doesn’t think you have time or can’t escape because there is no one to do things when you are gone, you need to rethink your time management.
Vacation is for clearing your mind and getting some good rest and relaxation. A good leader can go on vacation and delegate those important things to be done while away. They know how to train and trust someone to handle things that creep up in the interim. A good leader understands that vacation is necessary to reduce stress and get that “much needed” break.
Start being a leader! Step back and take a break so you are able to look at what you are doing with some sense of focus and purpose. Stop the busy, busy, busy! It will be really hard to look at the whole picture, wrap your thoughts around what time you have and manage that time effectively until you don’t take that vacation.
