Section 5.2    More with Exponents

Vocabulary

  • constant

  • variable

  • monomial

  • base

  • factor

Remember

To multiply powers with the same base, add the exponents and keep the same base.

  • Exponents can not be add unless the bases are the same.

  • Look at example 1,2, and 3 on page 204. Notice the exponents are added.

Remember

When dividing monomials coefficients are divided and the exponents are subtracted.

Look at Example 4,5, and 6 on page 205.  

Review Definitions on Page 206
