Section 3.3 :  Using the Properties Together

Given the equation:    42n + 35 = 119

Subtract 35 from each sides. 42n + 35 - 35 = 119 -  35

Simplify.                                                42n = 84

Divide each side by 42.                 (42n)/42 = 84/42

Simplify.                                                    n = 2
