Section 3.8     Solving Equations Involving Absolute Value

Example # 1:   | x | = 6

                      x = 6 or x = -6

Example # 2:  | x | + 2 = 12

                     | x | + 2 + (-2) = 12 + (-2)

                     | x | = 10

                     x = 10 or x = -10
