Section 9-4 Vectors Vocabulary Vector (p. 490) A vector is any quantity that has magnitude (size) and direction. You can represent a vector as an arrow that starts at one point, the initial point, and points to a second point, the terminal point. A vector can be described by ordered pair notation (x, y), where x represents horizontal change from the initial point to the terminal point and y represents vertical change from the initial point to the terminal point.
