Vocabulary

Sector of a circle (p. 396) A sector of a circle is the region bound by two radii and their intercepted arc.

Segment of a circle (p. 397) A segment of a circle is the part of the circle bounded by an arc and the segment joining its endpoints.

Theorem 7-15  (Area of a Circle)

The area of a circle is the product of p and the square of the radius.

Theorem 7-16  ( Area of a Sector of a Circle)

The area of a sector of a circle is the product of the ratio (degree measure of the arc)/360  and the area of the circle.
