Tessellation (p. 667) A tessellation, or tiling, is a repeating pattern of figures that completely covers a plane without gaps or overlap. A pure tessellation is a tessellation that consists of congruent copies of one figure. Translational symmetry (p. 668) Translational symmetry is the type of symmetry for which there is a translation that maps a figure onto itself. Glide reflectional symmetry (p. 668) Glide reflectional symmetry is the type of symmetry for which there is a glide reflection that maps a figure onto itself.
