Section 10-7 Surface Areas and Volumes of Spheres Vocabulary Sphere (p. 558) A sphere is the set of all points in space a given distance r, the radius, from a given point C, the center. A great circle is the intersection of a sphere with a plane containing the center of the sphere. The circumference of a sphere is the circumference of any great circle of the sphere.
Great circle (p. 558) A great circle is the intersection of a sphere and the plane containing the center of the sphere. A great circle divides a sphere into two hemispheres. A list of formulas is on p. 727.
