About Birding Connecticut
Connecticut, the most southwestern of the New England States, is small enough so that any point in the state can be reached from any other point in less than three hours by auto. Second-growth trees and forest cover much of the state. The Berkshire foothills in the northwest have some Canadian zone habitat while some woods in the southwest resemble mid-Atlantic habitat. There is a long coastal region which attracts many shorebirds and a good selection of seabirds as well as all kinds of migrants. There are good spots for birding nearly everywhere in the state even near the largest city (Bridgeport), and the next two largest cities (Hartford and New Haven). The RBA is 203-254-3665. Approximately 396 species of wild birds have been reliably recorded in the state. This Web Site is meant to help you find your way birding Connecticut; it contains over 325 links to other locations, pages, mailboxes, and sites. Good birding--good surfing!
