Leopold Waterman House
First Jewish Home for Children

[Pic of L. Waterman's house]

This house at 441 Orange St. in New Haven was built by one of the first Jewish settlers in the area, Leopold Waterman, in 1852. About 1905 it became the first building to house the
Hebrew Ladies Orphan Society (later the Jewish Home for Children).
