Fergus is a wonderful dog, like most Aussies he's obedient, willing to please and easy to train.  And like most Aussies, he has an abundance of energy!  This breed requires lots of attention and exercise or they are apt to get in trouble.  Some can be overly protective, although that is not a problem with Fergus--he thinks everyone was put on this earth to be his friend! 

Aussies are great dogs for those who love to be outdoors.  They are great swimmers, hikers or campers.  If you would like to do some serious obedience work, they are among the easiest to train and love to compete.   They are terrible dogs for those with little time.  They will do poorly cooped up in an apartment and are bound to get into mischief if they are not getting enough attention. 

They tend to be good with other animals and children who are older.  They are large and rambunctious and can knock small children down.
