Mack is a Chinese Crested.   Most people think of the breed as hairless, but they do come in a coated variety, known as the "PowderPuff".  Mack was rescued from a puppy mill in Pennsylvania --he was badly abused and neglected.  Thanks to the terrific work done by the Chinese Crested rescue group, Crest-Care, Mack was saved and put into a foster home.  His foster mom worked with him for about 5 months before he came to me.  He is terribly fearful of new people and situations, and is especially wary of men.  He is a survivor though, and has been making tremendous strides.  He is a beautiful dog with a sweet temperment.  It will take a good deal of time and work before Mack feels comfortable.  Mack was lucky--he was saved from a life of abuse.   Unfortunately, most dogs in puppy mills are not so lucky.

Chinese Cresteds are members of the Toy Group.  They come in two varieties, hairless and coated--both can be found in the same litter.  While the hairless doesn't shed or require brushing, they do need skin care to keep them in top shape.  They are also prone to sunburn, and should wear sunscreen.  The coated variety needs regular brushing to keep their coats free from mats.  Cresteds are lively, graceful, intelligent dogs who do well indoors.
