Yeppers, the DAR WILLIAMS PERSONALLY AUTOGRAPHED BANNER has been SOLD for $575.00 to.... Anonymous Person #4!  I had kind of hoped that s/he would let me announce his/her name now but s/he would prefer to remain anonymous and, for $575, who am I to quibble?  Nevertheless, congratulations Anonymous Person #4 and thanks SO much for your support of the Snowden Environmental Trust!  Which brings me to my next point... As this auction was a fund-raiser for the SET, I thought it an appropriate time to give everyone on the list a little update about the Trust, its goals, and what it has done so far... THE TRUST ========== The current "endowment" of the Snowden Environmental Trust stands at about $13,500.00 and we're earning about $35 per month in interest. Thus far, in 1998, we have taken in approximately $3,023.00, have spent $31.43 on office expenses, and have donated $450 to environmental organizations.  Our goal is to get the endowment to the point where we earn about $100/month in interest, and then be able to continually donate the interest to various environmental groups.  Neither Dar, Young/Hunter Management, Charlie, me, Scott Green, or John Odum (who handles the SET legal stuff) makes any money on the SET. It is ENTIRELY volunteer. And, speaking of Scott Green (the quiet hero of the Snowden Environmental Trust), he has just sent in the latest batch of cheques from those taking advantage of his taping Dar's two out-of-print pre-THR tapes and they total $410!  This means that, altogether, Scott (and tape-desiring Dar-fans) have raised over $8,000 for the SET!  His work on this has been entirely a labor of love and we are utterly indebted to him.  If you are among the few who haven't taken advantage of his generous offer, visit  for details.  WHERE THE MONEY HAS GONE IN 1998 ================================= 2/98. University of Florida Foundation. LaCruz (Mexico) Monarch Butterfly Habitat Protection. This group is  purchasing and preserving land in Mexico where monarch butterflies overwinter.    $100 5/98. Napa Valley Land Trust. Land acquisition for trail protection. Eric Apgar of the Dar-list asked us to donate to the NVLT to aid in their efforts to purchase land protecting a popular California hiking trail. Perhaps Eric will provide us with an update as to how the project is going? $150 5/98. Cliff and Alyn Thayer. Wildlife rehabilitaton project, Williamsburg, MA. This state-licensed couple voluntarily takes in injured and orphaned wildlife and, after nursing the animals back to health, releases them in the wild.  These funds will go toward medical and food supplies for the animals.  $100 6/98. Broad Brook Coalition. Land acquisition for Fitzgerald Lake Conservation Area, Florence, MA. Local land trust preserving wetlands.   $100 None of these are huge donations but it is better than donating nothing. As the fund grows, we hope to increase our donations and be able to support more and more worthy organizations and causes. SUPPORTING SET =============== As ever, we ask that if you are trading bootlegs of Dar performances (or if you're just feeling magnanimous), you send a donation to the SET. Our address is: Snowden Environmental Trust c/o Y/H Mgt. PO Box 303 Chesterfield, MA 01012 Please make all cheques and money orders payable to the Snowden Environmental Trust. We also welcome suggestions about where donations should go (but only if you've made a donation, please!). Thanks for your support of Dar and the SET and, again, congratulations to Anonymous Person #4! -Charlie & Kerry
