The Order
of Worship
Each service
begins Sunday morning at 10:00.
The Prelude
Worship
begins with a musical piece.
Call to
Worship
The
Liturgist reads a phrase, after which the congregation responds (it is written
out in the bulleting)
Opening Hymn
We sing to
God with our hymnals, "Worship and Rejoice"
Welcome
The pastor
says a few words of welcome.
The Introit
The Senior
Choir usually sings this short opening music interlude.
Silent
Reflection
This is a
quiet time to center ourselves spiritually.
Prayer
of Renewal
We ask for
God's continuing guidance.
Words
of Assurance
We are
reminded that Jesus forgives our sins, no matter who we are.
Gloria
Patri
This
response is sung by the congregation. The words are printed in the
bulletin.
Choral Anthem
The Senior
Choir usually presents the anthem, but about once a month the Handbell Choir
plays for the service.
Children's Message
The children
of the church are invited forward for a message by Rev. Hammett before going out
back for Sunday School.
Grass
Roots Choir
Anyone from
the congregation who wishes to come forward and sing are invited to do so!
A song from the hymnal is already picked out, and everyone gathers by the piano
to sing.
Sermon
Rev. Hammett
presents the Sunday Sermon.
Hymn
This second
hymn directly relates to the sermon.
Joys
and Concerns in Prayer
Your
prayer concerns and joys are welcome at this time. If you would like us to
pray about specific concerns, please raise your hand and let us know.
Offering
We give our
gifts to help the church to grow and carry on the mission of spreading the Good
News.
Doxology
This is also
sung by the congregation (the words are in the bulletin).
Prayer
of Thanksgiving and Dedication
Rev. Hammett
offers a prayer of thanks for the gifts the church receives not only through our
time of offering, but the gifts the Lord gives us all year.
Closing
Hymn
The
congregation sings this last hymn.
Benediction
Rev. Hammett
encourages us to go out into the world and tell others of the Good News of Jesus
Christ. The choir also sings a short closing piece.
Postlude
This musical
piece, usually played on the organ, ends the service.
You are invited downstairs after the service for a time of
fellowship!
An adult Bible Study follows!
