Welcome to Roy and Eddie's Page
Roy was adopted from a gift shop in Wisconsin several years ago when we were traveling to the "House on the Rock". We saw him sitting on a shelf and I thought "that look like a bear with a sense of humor" so we paid the adoption fee and he has been with us ever since.
Eddie was rescued from a cardboard box ,on a hot dusty day ,at the Antique engine show in Orange, MA in the summer of 1999. When we went to the show in 2000 ,we asked Ed if he wanted to go but he was frightened that we would leave him there ,so he stayed home that day. He has since become more confidant in his place in our home and is no longer afraid to go anywhere.
On this page are some pictures of "the boys" in their travels with us. Double click on the small pictures to view the big version.
In this picture the boys are at Hulls Cove Tool Barn on an excursion to find old tools. Hulls Cove is in Maine, where lots of REAL Bears and Moose live you know!
Oshkosh 2001
These pictures show the boys at Air Venture 2001 (Oshkosh for us old farts) exploring the possibilities of Para-sailing. They decided that the good Lord meant for aircraft to have at least two, preferably, four wings
The Michelin folks had a Formula One car on display and the boys just couldn't resist.
They begged for a ride in (or is it on) the Breezy but couldn't charm the pilot into giving them a lift.
Here they are in a full scale reproduction of a Nieuport WWI aircraft.
The boys said they would help me mow the lawn if they only had a new tractor, but their feet didn't reach the pedals!
The boys really enjoyed the ultra light area. The craft were just their size. The picture at the far right is an amphibious hull Para-sail craft. Ed liked it but Roy really hates to get his fur wet so it would not be for him. You know those pictures of bears standing in streams catching fish for their dinner? Roy is more of a Fish and Chips bear!
Next is a picture of the whole clan at home. Left to Right are Roy Bear, Jessica the Micro Moose, Eddie the Head Moose, the most recent addition to our family Taffy Bear and finally Dr. Annie Bear. Dr. Annie was visiting us on her way to Ohio to take care of Molly. Molly's Dad is in the picture on the right.
Doctor Annie is Roy's cousin, and when we heard that Molly needed a friend and Doctor due to an illness, Roy thought of Dr. Annie and asked her if she could travel to Ohio and take care of Molly. There is nothing a bear does better than be a friend to some one who really needs one and she quickly agreed to go.
Gettysburg Battlefield National Park
On Veterans Day weekend of 2001 we took a trip to Gettysburg PA to revisit the Civil War Battlefield. Roy and Eddie wanted to see the place on Little Round Top where the 20th Maine under Colonel Chamberlain defended the left end of the Union line. They hunkered down behind the stone wall and imagined what it must have been like for the brave Maine men to face the determined charge of the Rebs on that pivotal day in our country's history.
The boys were very impressed with this statue honoring the men of North Carolina. It was created by the same man who created Mount Rushmore in South Dakota
Oshkosh 2002
17 July 2002
It is almost time to head for Oshkosh! This is a big year since it is the 50th anniversary of EAA Conventions and Fly Ins. The boy are hopping with anticipation and here is a picture of them dressed for the trip.
Wound up not taking too many pictures of the boys , or anything else for that matter, at Oshkosh 2002. Most of the time it was wicked hot or wicked humid and the boys just didn't feel up to wandering the grounds looking for interesting things. They mostly stayed around the camp site a lazed the days away. Well after all it WAS their vacation and they figured they could spend it any way that they pleased.
Here are Roy, Eddie and Roy's cousin Dr. Annie with Tom Horch watching the
ultralights buzz around their pattern in the evening.
The first year this tent went to Oshkosh was 1972, thirty years and still
going strong!

Everyone has to have something they are best at and napping is Roy and Eddies
best thing.
This is what most folks go to Oshkosh for. Airplanes and more airplanes!
Roy and Eddie visit Missouri
The boys and I at the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial
Entrance.
This is a view of the Gateway Arch at the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial.
The boys had to go through the X-ray machine to get into the Memorial.
Security you know. For the next couple of days we had to listen to Knock
Knock - Who has a butt shaped like a box? ROY does, hahahahahaha!
While waiting in line for tickets to the top of the Gateway Arch the boys took a
bit of a rest in a friendly lady's stroller. We don't know where her kids
were but the empty stroller was more than the boys could resist.
The boys charmed their way onto this stagecoach. A bit of an argument
broke out over who was driving and who was riding shotgun.
Two pictures of Terri and I with the boys at the top of the arch. It was a
very tight squeeze into the tram car going up and back down. I think it
was because we had a bear with us who's butt was shaped like a box. Hahahaha.
We have lots more picture of Roy and Ed and will add them to this page as we come across them in photo albums. Sounds like a good job for a rainy day doesn't it? Or an instructor on summer release!
