Last month the good news and focus was on all the upcoming activities on the Covington Square. This month the good news and spotlight is on new business openings, an expansion and events recently added to the calendar.
Southern Roots
Southern Roots, located at 1116 Monticello Street, opened their doors on Thursday, September 1st just in time for our first lunchtime concert. They pride themselves with being from the south and expressing their “southern roots” through their clothing as well as customer service. Southern Roots’ goal is to always provide a “big box retail selection” with a small, local business feel. Their inventory changes daily and they strive to have the latest trend as well as the best brands such as Southern Marsh, Over Under, Peach State Pride, State Traditions, Patagonia, Rewined, Yeti, Costa, Rowdy Gentlemen, Southern Shirt Company, True Grit and women’s boutique clothing. Their vision is to bring southern fashion that is fun and affordable to Covington for all ages. Another feature Southern Roots wants to provide is store hours that are convenient for everyone. They are open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. If you haven’t stopped by to visit, please do. You are in for a real treat! Follow them on Facebook at Southern Roots Outfitter Covington for sales and specials.
Blair on the Square Boutique
Another welcomed neighbor to the Square is Blair on the Square Boutique located at 1115 Church Street. Owner Angie Blair opened her doors on Monday, September 19th. The boutique is right next door to another recently opened restaurant, The Irish Bred Pub. Blair on the Square Boutique lines include such names as Brighton, Toms, 7 for all Mankind, THML, Luii, Simply Noelle, Mud Pie, Bourbon & Bowties, Betsy Pittard, S’well Bottle, Beakman, Tegan and Persona, Southern Jubilee and many more. Jaymes & Co
Our newest addition to the Square is Jaymes & Co. They offer fine gifts, home decor, and baby and personalized wedding registries. A special part of any gift is the presentation. Jaymes & Co loves good ole Southern hospitality and will carry that on by offering complimentary gift wrap for all purchases at Jaymes & Co in addition to all purchases at Sweet River and Rough River Outfitter with your receipt. A sprinkling of the brands Jaymes & Co carries are Emily Ley planners, one Canoe Two cards, Nora Fleming, Mariposa, Glory Haus, and stationery by Kelly Lyden, Thymes and Coton Colors. Jaymes & Co will also feature local artisans for art prints, photography, furniture and wall decor.
Jaymes & Co are looking forward to offering a truly unique and welcoming experience to everyone who walks into their store. You’ll be greeted warmly, helped graciously and encouraged to return. Hours will be Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. These times are subject to change to reflect the holiday season. Bread and Butter Bakery
Many of you have noticed all the signs at the corner of Monticello and Washington Street. Bread and Butter Bakery is expanding and will be moving this Fall to their new location. Once they move, their name changes to include Café. Bread and Butter Bakery is known for selling gourmet desserts, breads and pastries coupled with exceptional customer service in a comforting atmosphere. Once the expansion concludes, customers will be able to dine-in, purchase complete dinners to cook at home, shop their retail section and enjoy gourmet coffee. Another treat in store for us is every month customers can join in the fun and take a cooking class taught by their staff.
Bread and Butter will offer wholesale accounts that will provide their products to outside companies within a 50-mile radius. Another little secret is Bread and Butter Bakery will offer full service catering. They will offer a full menu of products that can be delivered to any local event. Hours will be Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Follow them on Facebook at Bread and Butter Bakery Covington, GA.
Events on the Square
We have a great weekend in store for you on October 21st and 22nd! Join us in the Square park on Friday evening for the Season 8 Premiere of the Vampire Diaries. Arrive early to shop and have dinner before we kick-off the final season at 8 p.m. This is a not to be missed event! Although the series is winding down, Covington will be Mystic Falls forever! You are the reason the show was such a tremendous success so come out and say “hello” before we have to say “goodbye” to our favorite vampires, witches, werewolves, hybrids and humans!
Saturday evening join us back at the Square park at 7 p.m. for a concert under the stars featuring Ty Reynolds. When Ty Reynolds throws his guitar down and steps behind the piano, the rocking intensifies with a Billy Joel meets Jackson Browne flair that brings the feel of the night into a buzz. This Atlanta, Georgia party band with their variety of cover tunes will leave you wanting more. Grab a bite before the band at any of our wonderful downtown restaurants and feel free to set up Chastain style. More details about this great weekend to follow as they become available.
Scare on the Square is set for Monday, October 31st. Start planning your costume now!
