1952 C35 Bonanza

Below are pictures of my father's C35 Bonanza that I am lucky enough to now fly. It was manufactured in March of 1952 and left the factory as N1879D to be Heathkit's company airplane. As such, it was loaded with the top end accessories of the time. It bounced around the Midwest with several owners until a partnership called Cloudbusters bought it and secured the catchy N5050X registration.
Dad bought this plane in 1964 and was at the first ABS convention. It was a real treat to grow up in this airplane. It came with the paint scheme below which is very close to that of the P35. It was repainted in 1981. The interior is still the way it was when mom and dad reupholstered it while I was on the way (summer 1969). My first flight was at 2 weeks old in December that year. We went on some great family trips over the years. These trips are matched only by the imaginary ones I took while slipping into the left seat while I thought no one was looking. It is hard to believe that I am now actually flying it.

Flying V antenna removed, a good 3 knots faster!

New GNS430W. /G at last!

Picture taken in July of 1970 (I'm the one sitting on the wing), shortly before I threw up in the glideslope box under the rear seat. I'm still hearing about that.

Fulfilling my duties as head line boy.
