Ariadne's Thread |
|
with Resources for Minoan Crete |
| Welcome to Ariadne's Thread, a discipline-based pathfinder
for Internet resources in anthropology and archaeology. This pathfinder
was created by Elise Bochinski, a graduate student in the Department of
Information and Library Science at Southern Connecticut State University.
Ariadne's Thread was conceived as the final project for Dr.
Yan Liu's graduate level course ILS 616: Social Science - Literature and
Sources. It is geared toward undergraduate college students, who
may be encountering the subjects of anthropology and archaeology for the
first time and need a general and informative resource for their research.
There is also a list of specific resources on the subject of Bronze Age
Crete.
Ariadne's Thread is divided into three basic sections: first, an interview with social science librarian John M. Weeks, who describes some of the challenges facing academic librarians who wish to provide accurate and timely information in the field of anthropology for students and researchers. Next, a bio-bibliography for Sir Arthur Evans, an archaeologist who had a significant influence on the discipline and was the primary excavator of the palace of Knossos on the island of Crete. The third section is the pathfinder itself, Ariadne's Thread. This starts with a discussion of the flow of information in regard to anthropology and archaeology, and then provides a list of relevant links to helpful and informative resources on the World Wide Web. |
