"I have learned from the animal world. And what anyone will learn who studies it, is a renewed sense of kinship with the earth and all its inhabitants."
-Walt Disney
At over 500 acres, Animal Kingdom is nearly 5X the size of the Magic Kingdom, and twice the size of Epcot.
Billed as the world's largest working zoo, Animal Kingdom is home to over 1000 different animals, comprising 200 species.
This park was one of the highlights of our trip. As all Disney parks are constantly evolving, we were anxious to get the chance to see AK in the
year of it's release.

The Tree of Life
Animal Kingdom's answer to Cinderella's Castle. This 14-story tree was entirely hand-made by Disney Imagineers. The tree's trunk is a mass of intricately detailed animal carvings depicting the "circle of life," while the hollow
inside of the tree houses a state-of-the-art entertainment center, which is currently running a 3D show (technologically similar to "Muppet 3D" in MGM and "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" in Epcot) based on the film "A Bug's Life."

The Kilimanjaro Safari
The safari ride is one of the park's biggest draws. Hop aboard a canopied safari vehicle and chase a band of poachers. This 25 minute ride takes you through Serengeti-like terrain, where you'll see zebras, gazelles, hippos,
elephants, lions, warthogs, rhinos, and more. Then you'll travel through crocodile-infested waters in pursuit of ivory hunters. Will the poachers be caught? Will Little Red be OK?
