| The Columbus Magnet PTO houses an incredible number of spirited, dedicated and educationally aware parents, teachers and administrators. Through these resources, we plan fundraisers (e.g. Gift Wrap, Book Fairs, T-Shirt Sales, Holiday Fair, Live and Silent Auction, Technology Raffles, Cook Book sales, etc.) to raise money to pay for class field trips, scholarships, cultural enrichment programs, Learning to Look (an art appreciation program), a new Computer Lab with up-to-date software, new books for our school library, art enrichment supplies, just to name a few.
Our volunteers also provide Release Time - an hour of time when parents cover the classrooms so teachers can get together on a grade level basis to discuss, share and plan activities. There is also Children's Hour - an hour and a half when parents conduct a supervised activity with the classes so the entire staff can meet with Bank Street speakers or attend workshops. In addition, we also have extremely dedicated committees focusing on the Environment, Technology, Governance, Enrichment, Human Relations and Spirit for our school. Do we sound proud? Well we are!!! But we are always looking for new ways to improve ourselves, so please feel free to make suggestions, or just drop us a note in our PTO suggestion box in the Family Room. We would really like to see new faces volunteering to coordinate school functions. No special skills are required! Check the Thursday Notices each week and the PTO bulletin boards in the front hallway for up-to-date information and photos. All are welcomed to join us at our PTO Open Forum each month (usually held on the second Thursday evening of the month @ 7:30 PM in the school library) and continue to make a difference! Hope to see you there! |
