So...Have You Read Any Good Books Lately?

Yeah, I know in this electronic day and age, who has the time to READ, anymore. Believe me, working full time and raising 2 children (5 1/2 and 7 yrs old), I barely have any time to read myself. But...When I do get the chance (and time), I love to curl up with a good book and read. It's a wonderfully relaxing past time. So, in the hopes of promoting the ancient art of reading, here's MY list of books that you should pick up and check out. Please, if you run across any that you think I should check out, please feel free to e-mail me at gsardinha@snet.net.

Have you been “Left Behind”?  Check out this series of books (8 so far, the new one is coming out in October) written by Jim Jenkins and Tim LaHaye.  I promise you’ll start reading book one and won’t put it down.  A real page turner.

By now, you must have heard about a boy named “Harry Potter”.  Check out the books that have all of the teens (and the rest of us Muggles) talking.

I LOVE all of Og Mandino's books, but my all time favorite is entitled "The Choice". If you aren't familiar with this author, start with this one, (as I did) and you'll be hooked. Also, check out "The Twelfth Angel" and "The Spellbinder's Gift".

I heard about the next book from a local disc jockey. It's called "The Notebook", by Nicholas Sparks.

"Mary's Message To the World" by Marianne Williamson and "Conversations with God (books 1 and 2) by Neale Donald Walsch are important books to read. With "Conversations...", check out book one first.

Another set of books to try, for all ages, is by C.S. Lewis. The series is entitled "The Chronicles of Narnia". There are seven books in the series, and it can usually be found in the children's section. But, like I said, don't let that fool you, the series is just as meaningful for adults as children. The most well known book of the series is "The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe".

A teacher of mine would begin each class with a reading from a book entitled, "It Was On Fire When I Lay Down On It", by Robert Fulghum. Now, I own all of Fulghum's books.

You must have heard of the "Chicken Soup For The Soul" series of books. They have numerious books in this series. It's just a collection of very short stories that every one can relate to, and usually touch your heart. The stories were collected by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen.

I also like any books by both Katherine Woodwise (especially the Eden series, ie. "The Women of Eden", "This Other Eden", etc.) and all of Barbara Taylor Bradford's books. I'm sure you'll like them, too.
