
Art's Li'l Red Express
Interest in sporty trucks grew in the 1970's. Dodge
called
its sports models "Adult Toys". The Ll'l Red Express was the
most famous toy. It was a 1/2 ton pickup with speical
Canyon Red paint, gold striping and decals, oak side boards and
semi-truck style chrome exhaust stacks. The fancy Adventurer
interior and a high performance V-8 were used. With Super Flow
cylinder heads and parts from Dodge's police pursuit motor, the
truck could hit 100 mph before a Corvette. It's top speed was
118.8 mph. Only 2.188 Li'l Red Expresses were Built in 1978.
This one was purchased in 1996 from a 68 year old woman
from West Haven, CT. It's all original except for the wheels,
which have to be rechromed. The Li'l Red new, sold for
$5.245.6.
