Greater Hartford Interfaith Coalition for
Equity and Justice
(ICEJ) is a faith based initiative of over 50 churches,
synagogues, and mosques united to seek justice for all the people
of our region.
THE FAITH JOURNEY TO JUSTICE
Church of Christ, Congregational is a proud member of
the Greater Hartford Interfaith Coalition for Equity and Justice,
or ICEJ for short. ICEJ is committed to make justice and equity
ubiquitous in the area and this coalition is fighting to make necessary
systemic changes that would eliminate many problems. This year, the
coalition is working in four key areas: Education, Health Care, Tax Equity
and Civil Rights for Immigrants. The coalition is proud of its accomplishments!
In 2003-2004, ICEJ:
• Secured 700 additional pre-Kindergarten
slots for low income children.
• Helped prevent 87,000 families
from losing their health care coverage for their children.
• Worked with Hartford parents,
teachers and school administrators to prevent the closing of
• two neighborhood schools.
• Advocated and won additional
funding for the Education Cost Sharing grants in the state.
• Held two successful Public
Meetings involving thousands of citizens throughout the region
• and state.
If you would like to be a part of this meaningful and
necessary work, speak to one of the pastors or a member of the
Board of Missions and Social Action to learn more about ICEJ.
