September 2001 Rides

September 29: Escape from New York Century. Rode with the "A22" riders, which included Ralph, from Time Out New York. We kept together for the most part. Excellent sandwiches at the lunch stop. I went off on my own near the end.

September 16: Golden Apple Century. The ride started in Katonah. Met up with some Sound Cyclists - including Bob, Dan, Andy (on a tandem), 'Ironman' Rob, and some others. It ended up being Bob, Dan, and I on the ride. We saw all the others at the stops. We took long stops at each rest. I was pretty tired at the end. It must have been the century I did yesterday. The ride was pretty - all along roads in Upper Westchester, some of them my "stomping" grounds. Very hilly, this must have been what wore me down so much. Good food at the end.

September 15: Gimbel's. Rode over to the ride. Saw Greg, Zooie, Sean (rode with him July 4 after we missed the group), and the regular crowd. The pace was pretty brisk - we got to the Mamaroneck town line five minutes before 11:30am. There were no sustained breakaways, we finished as a strong group of about 30 or so. Very good riding. It is fall weather - perfect riding weather.

September 13: Thurday night ride up into the hills of New Canaan. Nice pace, I was the rabbit everyone was chasing. Extra loop up the "big hill" to an even "bigger hill"

September 3: Liesurely ride down to Bellport. Beautiful along the water.

September 2: Early Bird Ride on Long Island. Trevor and I kept up the pace. Near the end on Mill Road nobody could catch us. The wind was very bad going out, but was awesome coming back.

Total mileage for September 498 miles
