August 2000 Rides

Aug 29: Again out into hills of Missouri. Dog chased but not too unfriendly. Still friggin hot.

Aug 28: Another hot ride but not too bad since later in day.

Aug 27: Late day ride here in Missouri near KCI. It was too hot. Around 105 degrees. Too hot.

Aug 21: Tour of Hamptons out of Southampton. Rode the 105 miles in 5 1/2 hours, with stops. Nice pace with SBRA and a Gimbel's rider.

Aug 11: Rode up to Galena near "Hoover Dam" in Ohio. Nice ride but windy.

Aug 9: Rode up to some hick town and back in Ohio. Nice roads and no traffic.

Aug 8: Ride out into a rainstorm. It started raining and I booked back. In the flatlands of Ohio.

Aug 5: Rode out of my uncle's house out of New Albany. Went over to Zanesville to check out the famous "Y Bridge". Pretty dissapointing but still neat. Supposedly they redid it recently and took out the welded railings which allowed you to see through them to see the river below. Went further east and north up into some fairly large hills. Headed south to pick up time and flatter roads. Put in 209 miles in 12 1/2 hours including stops and three flats.

Aug 4: Rode south of here into some more cornfields. Encountered two closed roads this time and got a pinch flat on one. Muggy out again.

Aug 2: Ride out in Dublin, OH. Went south then west off the map. Hard to get lost when most of the roads only run east-west and north-south. Held a fast pace, did a little off-road riding around a closed road, and saw a neat resevoir. Hot out but it was very very flat.
