O.K., exactly what the hell is this list???? Just what it is-a list
of my fave 200 records(why 200??? Completely arbitrary…). Not rare, just
favorites. You see, somewhere along the line(mainly due to the sheer amount
of KBD comps), people have been collecting records solely for their 'value',
and the music has taken a back seat. Maybe I need a refresher course in
logic, but shouldn't collectors buy records in order to LISTEN to them???
Of course, if you do follow this rule, you won't be able to impress the
nerds in the "Killed By Death" newsgroups(yikes…a truly FRIGHTENING concept.
I thought I had no life!!!!!). I don't know 'bout you, but if I don't like
a record, I won't keep it(unless the sleeve is particularly interesting),
simple as that. I like many rare records as much as the next guy/gal, but
if the music blows, well, I'll pass. Record collecting used to be fun,
but now you need an accountant just to work out a simple trade!! Which
reminds me of something truly sad-I've seen many trade lists w/ priced
records, prices such as $37, $43, $89, etc…It's as if they wrote some mini
computer program to generate random numbers, or came up w/ a sophisticated
mathematical formula that calculates to the nearest dollar. I believe Andy
Rooney of '60 Minutes' once did a segment on this topic…PLEASE ROUND OFF
YOUR FUCKING PRICES FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!!!!! I'LL GLADLY PAY THAT EXTRA DOLLAR
OR TWO JUST TO AVOID THIS SILLY NONSENSE!!!!! Geeeeeeezzz….
Someone's gotta point this stuff out or it will continue to go on
unchecked.
Enough babbling…Anyway, this list was compiled from my database.
I did it quick, so it's by no means complete, or even really that accurate.
If I were to do it again, it might come out quite different. Some things
just aren't worth the extra time to perfect(like this, for instance). Alphabetical
sorting is good enough, no need to prioritize one record over another.
Comments here and there, sometimes I just drew a blank(an unfortunate,
all too frequently occurring trait of mine…I just have to accept it). One
final note-if it ain't listed in my 'trade' section, don't ask for it!!!
Just a preemptory strike-this is NOT a trade list…
Oh yeah...my graphic skills are SOOO bad(really??), I gave up and did this w/ Notepad... Notepad is my friend...
