Hidden in the back of Joe's(PO) backyard of old Chevy Goodies I found my 48 Brush Guard
Although it had $100. on it in yellow paint he parted with it for $40.  Said he had 
been saving it for 40 years.. "Knew somebody would need it!"

This came from the newly released

This 1940 GMC Brush Guard Belongs to Conrad in Idaho

"I was quite excited to find it (it made my week), as it was in a pile that was taken to the scrap place the next day.  I'd imagine that it is actually worth a bit, due to it's rarity and originality."

"The brush guard was an option for the gmc 6x6 trucks and when the military ordered them (such as mine) they always came with the brush guard.  It is a little bent here and there, but it's all there.  It's bolted onto the bumper from the bottom, and there are two steel straps that bolted to each side of the grill molding."

Chet I finally found the grill guard I was looking for. It comes in two pieces. I found the large piece In Portland Oregon and the center piece that holds the bolt in LA. Ca. This particular grill guard is almost impossible to find. The bumper guards are still eluding me. I'm sending you 3 pictures. One of the grill guard as it appears in a 41 Chevy accessory catalog. The second of the bumper guards as they appear in the same 41 chevy accessory catalog. The third picture is of a friends' Truck with both guards on it. Ed Rhoads Canby Oregon.

This grill was used on on 54 & 1st series 55..
Reason being that the 54 grill projects forward more than the 47-53 and the horizontal piece had to be curved.
