About David and Barbara RitchieDavid C. Ritchie, B.S., M.A.David has practiced martial arts since 1969 and began studying Tai Chi Ch’uan in 1973 with Benjamin Wong in the United States. In 1981, he traveled to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, East Malaysia, to visit Mr. Wong and was invited to train in Grand Master Haung Shen-Shyan’s Tai Chi school, the Sabah Tai Chi Association. David's Chief instructor was Master Wong, Li Sung. In 1988, David and his wife Barbara traveled to Hong Kong, where David studied with Master Wong Yi in Victoria Park. During a trip to Bangkok, Thailand, he practiced during the early morning hours with a group of the Thai Elders, a group of men and women in their 70s and 80s. Throughout the following years, Dave has continued to periodically study with various Masters in the Eastern United States. David directs the Tai Chi program at CCTCC, where he teaches Cheng, Man Ch'ings Yang Style, 37-Posture Form as well as Tai Chi Sword, Sabre, Staff, Chi Kung, Meditation, Pushing Hands, and Tai Chi Self Defense. He lectures and provides demonstrations and workshops on the subject of Tai Chi and Chi Kung. He is presently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut, where he teaches Tai Chi in the Department of Physical Education and Medical Qigong in the Health Sciences Department. David has also studied basic Shiatsu and Acupressure and has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and a Masters Degree in Therapeutic Recreational Service from the University of Connecticut. Barbara A. Ritchie, RMT, CHt.Barbara is Co-Director of Central Connecticut Tai Chi Ch'uan of Meriden and the Director of the Reiki Training Certification Program at the school. Barbara is a Registered Reiki Master, Teacher and Practitioner, Certified Hypnotherapist, Therapeutic Touch Practitioner, Kwan Yin Magnified Healing Teacher and Practitioner, Chi Kung (Tai Chi) Instructor, and Hatha Yoga practitioner. Other StudiesBarbara has also studied Basic Shiatsu at the Fourwinds Holistic Health Center of Farmington, Connecticut, Acupressure at the Connecticut Institute for Herbal Studies, Tai Chi and Chi Kung at Central Connecticut Tai Chi Ch'uan of Meriden. She is presently working toward her Bachelor of Science Degree as a Natural Health Consultant in the Clayton College of Natural Health of Independent Study. Barbara provides Reiki Training and Therapeutic Touch Classes. She is also available for lectures and demonstrations on Reiki, Therapeutic Touch, and other Alternative Therapies. Barbara also teaches Chi Kung (Qigong) classes in a number of different facilities, which include senior citizen centers, senior facilities, recreation centers, local YMCA, and adult education programs. Barbara also offers private sessions in Reiki by appointment. Member
