Summer of 1943

This map shows where the United Nations were pounding the Japanese from four quarters during the summer of 1943. They were the Aleutians, the Solomons and New Guinea, the Netherlands East Indies and Burma. The vast distances shown here offer a graphic illustration of the thousands of miles separating the United Nations forces from Tokyo.
