I'm back from a great trip to NEARFEST!

It was held last weekend at the Patriot Theater in Trenton, New Jersey. I enjoyed all the bands that played there: La Torre dell'Alchimista, Miriodor, Isuldur's Bane, Echolyn, Nektar, Spaced Out, Gerard, Enchant, Caravan, and Steve Hackett.
I was able to pick up CD's and vinyl from these and other prog rock bands at the vendor tables. Here's what I've added to the Remember The Future playlist:

CD's from NEARFEST

Echolyn - Mei (2002 Velveteen Records) (Their brand new CD, consisting of 1 epic track, which Echolyn performed in its entirety at NEARFEST)

Miriodor - Mekano (2001 Cuneiform) and Jongleries Elastiques (1995 Cuneiform) - Angular, Heavy, Precise...

Spaced Out - Spaced Out (2000 Unicorn Records) and Eponymous II (2001 Unicorn Records) - Bass, Guitar, Drums - Excellent Jazz-Rock Fusion!

Nektar - Remember The Future (1973, 2002 Bellaphon Records) - Well, if I picked up nothing else, I would have to pick this one up! This station's namesake and inspiration - its the long-awaited re-mastered CD. Previously, I had been using an old vinyl copy. The sound is greatly improved here - even at the 16kbps / 11khz / mono encoding that I use on this station. The title is split into parts one and two, and it also provides bonus tracks: single edits for Let It Grow and Lonely Roads. If you do buy the Remember The Future CD, make sure it has the sticker on it that says "Nektar Approved Remasters".

Nektar performed Remember The Future in its entirety, along with several other songs, and they filmed footage for a new DVD.

Happy The Man - Death's Crown (1999 Cuneiform) This music was recorded during rehearsals prior to the band's first album. This band wasn't at NEARFEST but since I never see their records in stores, I picked this one up. They will be at the Progday festival (Labor Day weekend in North Carolina).

Vinyl from NEARFEST

Synergy - Electronic Realizations For Rock Orchestra (1975 Passport) - Larry Fast was playing with Nektar at this festival.

Stomu Yamashta - Go Too (1977 Arista) - I liked the first one (Go) so much, I had to pick this one up, too.

There was an announcement for the 1st night's headliner for NEARFEST 2003. Its Magma. I have one of their records (Attahk) and one of their CD's (Udu Wudu, so I put a few songs from each of them onto the playlist.
